What are the C rating and mAh of a battery?
the two most common terms you will come across is the mAh rating and the C rating. 18650 cell rated at 4400mAh means that when we consume 2.850A from the battery it will last for 1 hour and similarly if we consume only 0.285A from the battery it will last 10 hours so we can use the Ah rating to calculate how long your battery will last for your application based on the current utilize.
Crating for a 18650 battery is usually 1C, this means that we can consume a maximum of 2.85A from the battery. This is because (Ah rating * C rating) gives us the maximum current that can be sucked out from the battery. For instance, if the C rating for our battery had been 0.5C then we only utilize a maximum of 1.42A (2.8/2) from the battery.
